My Apartment

Ok everyone. I finally did it. We had a party on Friday night and I got the house done just in time. Now, as you've all been wating for, pictures of my apartment. I'm pulling them right off my Flickr
just so you know. Those of you who have already seen them there, you don't have to go through it all again.

So, sure some things are still likely to change, and I am also still working the kinks out of things like, how do I hide anything when there's nowhere to hide! So, I'm sure things will change slightly as I get used to living in so much open space.

But the party was fun. Clean up was very easy, and I think Lauren had a great birthday! One thing though. I spilled candle wax on one of my dining room chairs. They are made out of fabric. And already dirty. They need to be cleaned, but I'm not sure how. Any suggestions on how to get not only dirt but candle wax out of the chairs?

Hope you enjoyed.

Your apartment is fantastic. I wanted to send you a link about removing candle wax, but Jess already did it. Now I have nothing to add. See you soon, though!!

How the heck did you find an apartment that big in NYC? Are you in the city? And how much do you pay? I ain't to proud to ask!

Your apt is GREAT! It looks awesome . . maybe after the holidays we'll be able to come up and see it:)
To remove candle wax, you need a brown paper bag. Heat either a butter knife blade (or if you're game, an iron) You keep rubbing the hot blade (iron) on the paper bag that is covering the wax. You'll see the wax start to come up onto the bag, as it does, keep moving the bag around. When you don't see any more wax markings coming up on the paper bag, the wax is up off the material. Almost every year we had to do this after Easter Midnight Services!

Wow, you really spruced it up since my last visit. It looks great! I'll be on the lookout for good storage type furniture for hiding things when there is no where to hide.

You can also place wax paper over the wax and iron on that and it should pick the wax right up.

Love you!

thanks everyone! you're all so sweet. And I hope you all do get to experience it in person. taylor, we live in Brooklyn, and we pay $1650. Obviously it's a lot of money, but for the space, it's actually quite a deal. I hate saying that, cause money in NY is just a different beast than anywhere else. I could rent four bedroom home in Chesapeake for $1650 a month With a garden! But it's all about location. And I do love my apartment. It's a dream come true to live in a place like this.

Fantastic! Great artwork too. I use unique boxes and square baskets to "hide" stuff. Storage ottomans are great too because it's also a seat, etc. Eddie and I were coming up over Thanksgiving but had to cancel at the last minute. Can't wait to see you though when we can get there!
